Get to know C
C grew up in northern California and started playing music as soon as the keys to the family piano were in reach. Before relocating to Colorado to study at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of music, C was fortunate to be exposed to many kinds of music and enjoyed playing in orchestras, string quartets, state honor groups and several different bands throughout high school.
In 2009, C moved to Denver to study with Jeri Jorgensen at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, and earned a degree in violin performance. While at DU, C participated in the Mentored Teaching Program, providing zero cost lessons to low income students at local public schools, and took classes in Suzuki violin pedagogy.
C has built up a lengthy performance resume playing in a variety of orchestras, chamber ensembles, rock bands and folk music groups including Denver-based Irish Folk Group, Avourneen, Classical crossover group, the Denver Nexus Project, and Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. Groups C works with have been featured on local and national NPR stations, local and national television, and radio shows in Fort Collins, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Montana. C enjoys collaborating with other musicians in many different contexts, and can always be found playing with various groups around the state!
As a teacher, C strives to help each student discover a love of music and to develop each individual’s musical ability through highly personalized lessons with a strong foundation in technique. Finding and facilitating each student’s unique interests, strengths, and connection to music is what drives C’s pedagogy. C has been teaching group and private lessons for more than 8 years and has taught at Aspen Academy Elementary school in Greenwood Village, Kunsmiller Performing Arts Academy, and privately throughout the Denver area.
