Get to know Doreen
Originally from Chicago, Doreen Press received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University and her Master of Arts in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix.
A music educator of students of all ages for over 40 years, Doreen has recently been the Director of Orchestras and Fine Arts Department Chair at McClintock High School in Tempe, AZ. She has participated as an adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor at district, regional and state music festivals, including North Central Regional Orchestra, Greater Phoenix Honor Orchestra, Elementary All State Orchestra and Northern Arizona University Curry Summer Music Camp. She has authored five articles on music education published in Teaching Music, a national journal for music educators. Mrs. Press was honored to be included in the 2004, 2005 and 2006 editions of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and has been recognized as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction, as well as a National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teacher. For the past two years Doreen has served as the Arizona Music Educator Associations Southwest Regional Governor. She has enjoyed being the conductor of the Phoenix Youth Symphony String Orchestra for the past 21 years.
Doreen is excited about her move to Denver with her husband of 44 years and to be living near their children and grandchildren. She is passionate about making music and sharing her love of music with her students. She believes in creating a comfortable environment that encourages self-expression and where no student is afraid to make a mistake while learning. Doreen is thrilled to be joining the Neighborhood Music Community!
