Alex Tripp is a professional musician and educator from Denver, Colorado. He started playing drums when he was 13, and was influenced by his dad who is a piano player, as well as other musicians and drum teachers in the Denver area. He was in the All-City Jazz Band at CEC his senior year of high school. While performing in the Adams State College big band for two years he won an Outstanding Soloist award at the UNT Jazz Festival. He went on to study at Berklee College of Music, and graduated with a Performance degree in 2013. During his time at Berklee, he had the opportunity to study all kinds of music with some of the industry’s best, and travel to Ghana to study African drumming. He then lived in New York City for a year, teaching and playing in various groups before moving back to Denver in 2014 to establish a career as a musician. He currently plays frequently with his own group and does freelance work with other bands in Denver, and around Colorado.
